Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Car Hire

The Australian Capital Territory is a small territory created by the Australian Parliament in 1908 within New South Wales which ceded this area to the Federal Government. So this Territory is completely surrounded by the land of New South Wales and is bounded by the Goulburn-Cooma rail line, the Naas Creek watershed, the Cotter River watershed and the watershed of the Molonglo River. There are two Budget Rent a Car locations within the Territory in order to provide convenient transportation for visitors.

Destinations in ACT - Holidays & Places to Visit

Canberra is the largest and only urban centre in the Territory, it is a planned city so it has an interesting geometric design which is different from the regular street grids seen in other cities. With the Budget car hire it is easy to traverse the city and visit the governmental, cultural and social institutions such as the Parliament Houses, the Australian War Memorial, the National Gallery of Australia and the National Portrait Gallery.

Beyond the city are many smaller communities, lots of agricultural land which support sheep, cattle, vineyards and some crops. A large portion of the Territory is composed of parkland, all of them easy to reach with a Budget rental car. Locations such as Bullen Range Nature Reserve, Kowen Pine Forest, Mount Majura Nature Reserve, Uriarra State Forest and the Murrumbidgee River Corridor are within a thirty minute drive in the car hire from Canberra. Within these beautiful nature areas there is plenty to do, hiking, fishing, camping, birdwatching, and many others.

A bit further out in the rental car it gets a bit wilder at the Namadgi National Park, a rocky wilderness bush land with a portion of the mountainous Australian Alps running through it. There is lots of wildlife and aboriginal history within the park, especially at the Tidbinbilla Nature Preserve. For those who like a hiking adventure a piece of the Australian Alps Walking Track runs through the National Park.
